Pousada de Faro – Estoi Palace

The five-star Pousada de Faro – Estoi Palace Hotel is one of the jewels in the crown of the hotel scene in Faro, southern Portugal. Incorporated into the famous Pousadas de Portugal portfolio in 2009, this sympathetically restored nineteenth-century palace formerly belonged to the Viscount of Estoi, José Francisco da Silva.

The renovation project was led by the renowned Portuguese architect, Gonçalo Byrne and was reopened to mark the centenary of the Palace’s first grand opening party, which took place in May 1909. In addition to the beautiful palace building, the grounds boast tea pavilions and landscaped greenery that pays homage to the intricate gardens of the Palace of Versailles, both of which are still being honed to perfection as the remodeling works continue.

Whatever your reasons for traveling to Faro, the Pousada de Faro – Estoi Palace Hotel provides the perfect setting for a relaxing break away from the demands of daily life. The former Estoi Palace offers a total of sixty-three rooms including forty-five standard doubles, fifteen superior doubles and three suites.

The elegant rooms provide a refreshing mix of opulent turn-of-the-century decoration and modern comfort. All feature private en-suite bathroom with hairdryer and bathing gowns and come equipped with LCD cable TV, cable Internet access, mini bar, safe and hot and cold air conditioning.

Facilities available to all guests include an outdoor pool perched in the centre of the hotel’s sweeping deck area as well as an indoor pool, spa and healthclub with gym, sauna, Jacuzzi and Turkish bath. The Estoi’s fine dining restaurant serves signature dishes from all over Portugal as well as regional fish and seafood dishes featuring freshly caught local fare.

The hotel is popular amongst business guests who make good use of its conferencing and meeting room facilities as well as recreational travellers in search of a five-star base from which to explore the delights of Portugal’s Algarve region and the area’s capital city of Faro.

Steeped in history, the hotel is located close to some of Faro’s most famous sights, such as its famous old town, the archaeological museum located in a former sixteenth-century convent and ancient Roman remains. Close by are the towns of Tavira and Olhão and the Ria Formosa Natural Park, one of Portugal’s leading natural attractions.

Whatever your reasons for visiting Faro, The Pousada de Faro – Estoi Palace Hotel provides the perfect mix of history and luxury to ensure your stay is a memorable one.
